Carbohydrate phobia has led some dieters to unfairly question sweet corn. But clinical dietitians agree: whole sweet corn is a nutrient-dense whole grain, not processed starch.
Myth 1: Sweet corn has too much sugar.
Fact: An ear of sweet corn has about the same calories and natural sugar as an apple (around 5 to 6 grams of natural sugars), combined with high dietary fiber and zero refined syrup.
Myth 2: Corn has no vitamins.
Fact: Sweet corn is rich in Vitamin C, thiamin (B1), niacin (B3), folate (B9), magnesium, and phosphorus.
